About the Project
In engineering and biology class we are worked on a project that involved both subjects. We chose a biological phenomenon and experimented with it. After becoming experts on that particular phenomenon, we then created an exhibit that displayed the phenomenon in an interesting and interactive way. These exhibits were designed and put together in engineering class.
Once the exhibits were complete, they were displayed at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. The class took a field trip to the Science Center to meet with its exhibit manager, Eric. He showed them the key elements that make a good exhibit. With his knowledge and help from teachers, the class aimed to create an exhibits that were good enough to find a temporary home on the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center floor.
The overall goal of this project was to promote scientific inquiry. The class wanted to create exhibits that could be easily explored by more than one person at a time. They wanted to promote scientific discovery and teach their audience about biology. The class learned about the different forms of engineering to create the most effective exhibits they could, and become masters of specific biological phenomena. In the end, each person in the class had the goal to see their exhibit sitting in the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center being played with and used to teach kids about biology.
